Best Badminton String: What to choose

Hello dear readers!

Its been a long time since my last post but it was because i am a student and had exams.
Well my personal details apart, I am today, discussing, a difficulty that i first experienced, when i started playing badminton.

Background

I started playing badminton when i was 12 years old. At that time i played with local made rackets and local strings. For 4 years i played like that but in college when i was selected for college team, i decided to go professional. I bought my racket that was Yonex Armortec 700 and strung it with yonex bg66 ultimax. I was overjoyed to play with it. Despite having low coaching and low skills i was able to beat the top seeded players in "All college's badminton tournament" and reached semi final but lost to a 10th seeded player.

Now i when analyzed myself today, i got a point that bg66 ultimax was a power string and have optimum repulsion plus hitting sound but durability was low. i even snapped strings within singles even 10 times(my tension was 27lbs at that time).

Now when i again started playing after my admission in Medical College, i researched for best strings available. but every website stated that this and that etc. Therefore, i decided to write something about this issue.

Review:

After various testing, what i experienced was that Yonex BG66ultimax is for power players but it snaps easily. I tested Li-Ning strings and except NS95, none dazzled me. Testing Ashaway proved really difficult with lot of strings that could compete with one another but i chose Zymax 62, zymax65, zymax70, Microlegend xl and felx 21 for testing. Yonex is a top brand so i chose all that were available. and i considered Victor VS850 for testing also.

Test Conditions:

Test phase contained all strings used on single racket that was APACS TANTRUM 200(all-round racket to give none advantage). Further i kept tension equal for all that was 26lbs(main/cross) and stringer as well(my friend). observation period for each string was 2 weeks with 4 hrs/day games.

Testing:

During test my observations were as under:

Power String:
Real power strings were Ashaway Zymax 62, Zymax 65, Victor vs850, flex21, yonex bg66ultimax, bg80+bg80p and li-Ning NS95.
Why? because the hitting sound was excellent and repulsion was brilliant. However i favoured BG80P, Zymax 62 and Victor VS850. Although i have to admit that durability was a bigger problem. also tension drop was worrying thing but zymax62 and zymax 65 did well.

Durability:
Durability was a problem but i found something amazing. Ashaway zymax65, zymax70, microlegend xl, Li-Ning Ns95,  flex21 and Yonex ti series strings were durable.

Editors choice:

My choice based on my testing is as under:

1)Ashaway Zymax65
2)Yonex Bg80
3)Li-Ning Ns95
4)Ashaway Flex21
5)Victor VS850

  4. Nice really nice review and great information to come across. Badminton rackets strings need to be A common mistake most people make is to string at too high of a tension because of their ego. Since it is harder to generate power at high tensions, the player will often use excessive force in order to generate power and may result in an injury to the shoulder or they may develop tennis elbow.
